Gardens Village Route

This gorgeous and restful garden of sweeps of lawn and lush broad borders is given height and structure by a variety of mature trees and its immediate proximity to the mountain. A farm sized garden in town : Sandy and Doug Trollip chose the house in 2005, when the sale of their farm Mount Prospect, spurred a move to Bedford. Here they still have their fruit trees, a kitchen garden, exotic poultry, and horses.

In two short years, with no budget, Nettie Wicks has transformed a large builder’s dumping ground into a fertile cottage garden with lots flowering plants, veggies and herbs.  Her panel of “before” pictures is fascinating. Her plants are all rescued or slipped and she collects her own seed. She runs a nursery all year and packs her seeds in charming hand-decorated envelopes.
Refreshments: teas on the veranda.
