Bedford Garden Festival
Welcome to the Bedford Garden Festival 29 - 31 October 2010

UPDATED 24 July 2010

A FEAST OF COUNTRY PLEASURES

It's one of the Eastern Cape's most popular rural lifestyle experiences. No wonder our visitors keep coming back for more. There's a fabulous range of gardens to visit - vast park-like expanses on some of the farms, smaller gardens in the village and township, cheeky scarecrows popping up all over the place. And masses of healthy old-fashioned plants to buy at every turn. As you travel to the farm gardens enjoy the adventure of exploring district roads that wind through the landscape we love so much: golden grasslands, indigenous bush and dramatic mountains. There are terrific opportunities for birding, tree-watching, mountain-biking and hiking ... And we Bedfordians are famous for our hospitality so expect a warm welcome and scrumptious food.

In thanking Myco-root, our festival convenor, Bryan Knox, said that support from partners like these made it possible for us to improve our visitors' experience and further...

 GROW IT, EAT IT
What's happening in Bedford's gardens and kitchens this month...

The first peas are ripe at the Morgans' but the hornbills are picking them faster than Christine. The recent freezing spell was welcomed at de Kleine Maasstrom because it slowed the strawberries down - they were getting into spring mode too early. Dave Robbins wants to make sure Garden Festival visitors get these fabulous berries at their best. Using ONLY fresh ingredients from her edible garden, Kim van Niekerk has made an addictive salsa for her new "Kim's Kitchen" range.
